What are you proposing?
This proposal is to demolish the existing buildings and construct a replacement warehouse on Gorst Road, with improved car and van parking, landscaping and outdoor staff amenity space on Standard Road.
-
Why is this being proposed?
HT Drinks is a long established local company which operates a Cash and Carry distribution warehousing business for all types of beverages. They supply to convenience shops nationally and to the national supermarket chain likes of Aldi, Asda, Lidl and Wetherspoons. The Group turns around approx. £300 million annually. They have been operating from Park Royal Road for the last 25 years. Business is in growth at the group / company and hence they are looking to expand the business operations to meet the ever-growing consumer demands and to stay ahead of their competition.
-
What will the new building provide?
The re-development will provide warehousing space of around 28000 square feet on the Ground Floor and Office space of 7400 square feet on the First Floor. When the group operations increase, the office space will be needed for the administrative department, meeting rooms, board room and improved staff facilities.
-
What are the implications for traffic? Will there be more lorries?
Gorst Road is a one-way street; the proposed Warehouse design layout has been designed in such a way the façade bears 2 roller shutter openings each measuring a width of 11.5m which would allow a 16m articulated truck to enter from the shutter at 50 Gorst Road and exit from the other roller shutter at 46 Gorst Road. Gorst Road is narrow and does not allow enough space for lorries and trucks to be loaded and un-loaded. The proposed design layout allows for minimum of two articulated lorries to be loaded / unloaded at the same time. This will avoid the queuing of lorries and trucks on Gorst Road.
-
Will there be long term jobs?
The development will create jobs not only during construction but also after the warehousing distribution centre has been built. When operational, the HT Group anticipates creating 50 full-time jobs at the company's expanded operations.
-
Who makes the decision on whether this goes ahead, and what is the process?
The decision will be made by the local planning authority, possibly by a committee of elected local councillors.
